Hello Bear Families,
It is hard to believe it is the end of May and summer break is right around the corner.
We would like to congratulate our seniors as they prepare for commencement on Friday, May 31st. We are proud of all they have accomplished during their time in our School District and wish them the very best as they move on to their next chapter.
As the year comes to a close, we continue to prepare for the 2024-2025 school year. It will be a summer full of planning and projects as we prepare our District for another great school year.
We are still working hard to recruit more drivers and retain our current drivers in the transportation department. We have agreed upon a wage increase, field trip rate increase, signing bonus and recruitment bonus. We have also been meeting with drivers, mechanics and clerical staff in the department to continue to address the department’s needs.
We have a recruitment event coming up on June 1 and we will continue to work hard to add drivers to our team. We need to add five or six additional drivers by the end of June if we want to keep the three tier system currently in place. If that does not happen, we will be moving to the two tier system that was explained in our last communication. We will send communication towards the end of June when a final determination has been made. This will include a video detailing the changes, if changes are needed.
Finally, we would like to say thank you to our students, families, staff, and both the City of North Royalton and Broadview Heights. We have great students from great families, a world class teaching a support staff and the support of two great communities. That is what makes our District a special place!
We hope that everyone has a safe and restful summer break.
Thank you,
Mike Laub
